World’s Smallest Man Visits Beach for First Time

Dangi the world’s smallest man visits a beach for the first time in his life… and nearly gets a soaking.

The 72 year old from Nepal, who is just 54.6cm (21.5 inches) tall, went to Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Tuesday afternoon. (May 15)

It was the first time he had ever seen a beach or the ocean.

As he posed for pics he was almost swamped by a wave but was hoisted to safety by radio hosts, Fitzy and Wippa.

After feeling the sand and the water, Dangi said through an interpreter that both “felt cold”.

He also posed with fans and gave a thumbs up sign.

Dangi, full name Chandra Bahadur Dangi, has been brought to Australia by Sydney radio show presenters Fitzy (Ryan Fitzgerald) and Wippa (Michael Wipfli) from Nova 969.

He is expected to head home to his remote village in Nepal at the weekend.

Dangi has never been out of Nepal before.

During his week-long stay in Sydney, has already visited the Opera House and Sydney Wildlife World.

Dangi was officially recognized as the world’s smallest man by Guinness World Records in February.

He has spent his entire life in the remote village of Rhimkoli, about 250 miles west of Kathmandu.

He lives there with his five brothers who are all of average height.

They make a living weaving traditional Nepalese garments.

He went unnoted by the outside world until an outside contractor arranging the cutting of timber alerted the media.
