In a whirlwind four month romance that began on Twitter, the British TV presenter has got engaged to tomboy roofer Jack Cockings, who is 16 years her junior.
It seemed fitting that the 42-year-old took to the social networking site to announce the news.
“Me and Jack are engaged to be married and we are very giddy xxxx”, tweeted Melanie.
Who else will be heading straight to Twitter after seeing the diamonds on that ring?!
