Tom Cruise isn’t letting his split from Katie Holmes get in the way of being there for Suri’s first day of school.

No, even though the 50-year-old actor is currently filming a movie in London, he plans to be in New York with ex Katie Holmes just after Labor Day when Suri head to class for the first time.

The report comes from Radaronline, who also claim that Tom and Katie have been speaking by phone regarding their 6 year old, and that Katie is supportive of Tom’s decision to be there.

We’re learning that there will be big security concerns and Tom doesn’t want to disrupt other parents, so it is very likely that he will slip in and out via a back entrance.

According to the report, a source close to the couple claims that Tom will be very involved in Suri’s school activities and will even take part in parent/teacher conferences. 

So if Tom was getting graded on his parenting…we just might have to give him an A.
