Jessica Ennis steals the spotlight at BBC Sports Personality 2012 awards

Jessica Ennis was the star of the show at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. 

Daring to wear red on the red carpet, the heptathlete attended the glitzy event at the Excel centre in London. 

Picking up second place in this year’s awards, the 26-year-old missed out on the top position to cyclist Bradley Wiggins. 

Andy Murray, who watched the event from Miami, rounded off the top three after winning a gold medal in the Olympics and the US open.
