One Direction have risked the wrath of Simon Cowell by apparently refusing to help rescue the X Factor. 

According to The Sun, the music mogul hoped the famous five would be mentors on the UK show to try and boost dwindling audience figures. 

But even though the boys came to fame through the programme, they reportedly don’t want to help out. 

The group may have enjoyed their time as guest judges on Australian X Factor but despite his success, the boys don’t feel qualified to give strong advice. 

It seems Simon Cowell will have to take another direction to save his singing contest.
