The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to make a criminal complaint over topless photos of Kate.
They will ask a Paris court judge to pursue the photographer responsible.
Both the photographer and the editor of France’s Closer magazine, which published the long-lens pics, could face jail.
The Duke and Duchess are pressing for the ‘stiffest punishment possible’ against the magazine.
The royal couple have instructed a barrister to demand tough action against Closer at a Paris court hearing.
They will also lodge a criminal complaint against the unnamed photographer who they say breached their privacy by taking the long-range snaps.
The news came as Will and Kate were greeted by more than 70,000 screaming well-wishers as they arrived on the Solomon Islands.
Paris barrister Aurelien Hammelle will represent the couple at the city’s Tribunal de Grande Instance de Nanterre.
Penalties could technically include a one-year prison sentence for both the magazine’s editor and the photographer.
There will also be an application for a fine, a prominent apology, and an attempt to halt further distribution of the images.
