They may have swapped Downton Abbey for the red carpet but the cast of the hit ITV series looked as glamorous as ever at the 64th Emmy Awards.

They may have swapped Downton Abbey for the red carpet but the cast of the hit ITV series looked as glamourous as ever at the 64th Emmy Awards. 
Many of the cast made it to the event to support the programme, which was nominated for 16 gongs. 
The series was up against some stiff competition as it was moved into the drama category this year, though programme creator Julian Fellows said that he was ‘kind of puffed’ to be against such ‘mythic’ American shows.  
Dame Maggie Smith, who was not at the event, won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the grand Dowager Countess of Grantham. 
She saw off competition from her co-star Joanna Froggatt, who plays Anna in the series, to  win the gong. 
Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, and Joanna Froggatt were both looking gorgeous in blue and grey dresses. They were joined by Hugh Bonneville, Brendan Coyle and Jim Carter.
